LeeAnn Triestman attempts to interest freshmen to join debate

On August 16, administrators and student volunteers gathered for freshmen orientation, an event known as “Fish Camp.”
There, freshmen students were shown a power point presentation about important school policies such as the tardy policy and dress code. This year, students will be permitted two tardies a week before facing consequences, such as after school detention or a write up.
Members from the Creek Squad were also present, putting on a small skit to demonstrate what is and isn’t acceptable according to dress code.
“It was awesome,” senior Lucas McCutchen said. “I love freshman, they laugh at anything.”
Later, student volunteers led the freshman on a tour around the school, showing them key locations and other class rooms.
“I probably would have gotten lost a lot more than I did if I wouldn’t have gone,” freshman Thomas Fritts said.
An activities fair was set up after the tour, allowing the freshmen to see and learn about the clubs and activities they can become a part of.
“I expected it to be boring,” freshman Brandy Reynolds said. “It was exciting. It was different than what I expected.”
