RUN UP. The Caney Creek High School Varsity football team running out for their entrance against Montgomery High School on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024. The energy was high for the first home game of the new season and it started off good with the first quarter ending score being 7-7. Unfortunately it would be downhill from there, a gap between scores happened and kept widening, with the ending score of the game being a 33-58 loss.

Freshman Counselor Sophia Meza bonds with her youngest son at the pen pal station on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Caney Creek high school. Mrs. Meza has two kids, the youngest being named Marcel turning 3 on March 15 and the oldest is named Alonso who is 9 years old. “I really enjoyed and was amazed by the variety of activities available as well as the people who were facilitating the event, since they were very attentive to my children.” Meza said.
NEHS holds story night
VOCALS. Junior Abby Cross sings “God Bless this child” by Billie Holiday at the Jazz band and Percussion concert on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024. Cross was the vocalist in some of the pieces that the band played. “My friend, he's a drummer in the Jazz band, he invited me like, ‘Hey, you should come sing for the jazz band,’ so I did,” Cross said. “It was very loud and everyone was just there to listen to jazz and the atmosphere was great.”

START. Sophomore ZiaYiah Bookman deadlifting on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 at Willis High School. Bookman started her deadlift with her first attempt being 160 lbs then proceeding to 200 lbs and 232 lbs at the end. “To be honest, I could have gone higher but stayed low,” Bookman said. “Going forward I need to keep pushing, you know, step out and do something.”

Seniors were informed about the cards through an Instagram post made by Student Council on Instagram and the announcements. “They announced it on the announcements so I went to go get it. I actually felt really grateful because it was just such a cute gift.” Cruz said.

YAYY. Senior Bella May talks with 3rd graders in Creighton Elemtarys library. Writing letters to each other and sending gifts for the past six months Members from NEHS get to meet their pen-pals. Members read books, talked, and had fun with the kids during their time there.

YUCK! Junior Riley Blanks looks away from her arm while Nurses point out veins on her arm at the blood drive on Sept. 4. Blanks wanted to donate blood to prepare herself for what to expect her senior year, so she can earn her blood drive chord. “Me and my sister, we agreed to do it together,” Blanks said. “I know that blood is gonna go towards something like, it'll be used for something important, hopefully, can save a life or help somebody.”

"AHHH". Senior Mario Leon Portillo runs to celebrate with his team after scoring his 100th goal during a game against College Park on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024. Leon immediately turned to his team to celebrate not his 100th goal but to have scored the second point in their game leaving them 2-1 against College Park. “Whenever I scored the 100th goal, I didn't even think about it. I didn't even realize it was the 100th one.” Leon said, “Because I was just, so focused on winning the game versus College Park."
