Students juggling multiple extracurricular activities struggle when it comes to balancing academic deadlines and sport. According to the Student Burnout Report, students participating in multiple extracurriculars are 102.4% more likely to report burnout.

Another significant challenge is when the sports schedule changes due to games or locations. According to an article published by Lazar and Company, matches and tournaments may come in between academic assignments and deadlines. Student-athletes must be open to adjusting their schedule study plans and seeking academic support when necessary to ensure they do not fall behind.

According to the Student Media burnout survey, 77% of students struggle with making decisions for academic work and trying to balance time between academics and sports which can often lead to students having to sacrifice their personal time to make sure that their assignments are completed.
“I try to make sure that I have my priorities set , so that I know what’s more important to more important to work on at certain times, so that I don’t get overwhelmed with doing everything at lunch,” Emily Hause said. “Sometimes I do feel a lot of overload, but usually I just have to take a step back, breathe and realize that I can only be at one place at one time.”
