How would people describe you as a person?

I feel, people would describe me as someone very independent and kind. By that I mean, I love to figure things out on my own, it teaches me the importance of resilience. But I’m also a huge advocate for spreading kindness in the little gestures.

What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?

My favorite thing to do outside of school is go to Leo 2S2 Conferences. As an officer for this district, being able to talk about an impactful passion of mine with other schools in the Houston area is something magical. Just last Saturday we made 1500 bags full of bracelet accessories for our Texas Lions Camp.

What Career would you like to pursue? Why?

I would love to pursue a position in government. I chose this career path because seeing how people perceive certain parts of the world  makes me wonder why we allow that notion to impact where we live. I want to make a difference in those high crime rate cities, while also making a positive change in the way people see the government. And that starts with being the change.

What’s on your phone background? Tell us why you chose that

I have a baby blue background with clouds and in the middle it says “Tomorrow it will be better.” “But what if it’s not?” “Then you say it again tomorrow. Because it might be. You never know, right? At some point, tomorrow will be better.” I chose this background because as someone who loves to stress out, looking at my screen allows me to take a deep breath and remember that no matter what, the sun will rise tomorrow.

Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.

Honestly, it seems kind of small I guess. But as someone who has always looked at the world in a brighter light, I’ve always loved to give back. Recently though, I have been saving up for my senior trip, and have collected a good amount. I have been guarding this money with everything because I did not want to spend a cent of it. Well, two weeks ago I was sitting in a restaurant, when I saw a man signaling for my help. He comes inside and says that he and his family had recently lost their home, but he doesn’t want my money, he only wants food for him and his little brother. Without hesitation I took out my card and bought him the biggest family meal in the restaurant. Usually, I feel guilty after spending money, but to this day I don’t regret a thing, he was worth it.

Who is someone you are thankful for and why?

I am very thankful for my brother, Javier Blancas. I don’t know what I would do without him, I mean I come to him for everything. Though these past year or two have been the hardest, he has always been there. It’s a different level of understanding when it’s someone you share blood with, because they truly feel your words.

What advice would you give to others?

Some advice I would give to others is follow your heart. Only do things because it’s something that makes you happy, not for superficial reasons. I mean, think about it, we spend so much time doing stuff we don’t necessarily have a passion for yet we do it for the title. Life would be much better spent if we only did things we truly wanted to do.

What do you hope to be remembered for?

I hope to be remembered as someone who is hardworking yet very understanding. Despite my greatest achievements, I only want to be remembered for my character, and I hope that is only in a positive light.

What’s on your bucket list?

My bucket list is full of travel spots, I hope to travel the world; Greenland and Iceland, France, London, etc.
