How would other people describe your high-school self?
Very focused on my grades also I was a theater kid and competitive in my class.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching?
I used to want to be a TV news anchor or a radio announcer.
Tell us about how you got into teaching.
So I had a college class, and I had a history professor who just had a tight history; it was like a story. And I went, ‘That’s what I want to do.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?
I love to travel, and I love sports. I like to read, you know, just bits at a time.
When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you? (If needed) What is your hidden talent? (If needed) What is something you know a weird amount about that isn’t related to something you teach?
I think they’re surprised that I’m as much of a sports fan as I am.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
Watching kids grow, and sometimes when they are like forty, they say, ‘Hey miss, you used to be my history teacher.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
My mom died of cancer in 2016, and she just taught me how to be a nice person and to think of others.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Be less self-righteous; be willing to listen to people instead of thinking that everything you say is right.
What do you hope to be remembered for?
As somebody that loves to teach, somebody who did the right thing no matter what.
What’s on your bucket list? (If needed) What aspirations do you have for the future?
I’ve never been to Washington, D.C., but I’ve never really been to another continent.
