Looking into the Future
Sep 11, 2014
Thursday, September 11 during lunch students got the opportunity to plan for their future at the mini college fair that is being held in the cafeteria.
“I was looking at what college might be best for floral design,” junior Kimberly Mendez said.
For many students it can be easy to get caught up in whats happening now, and they forget to get ready for whats ahead of them. The college fair was a great chance to look into any college they’re interested in and what it takes to get there.
“I was looking at Sam Houston and they said they would look at my SAT scores and where I’m ranked in my class.” junior Baldemar Esquivel said.
Having it at school during lunch was very convenient compared to most of the time when college fairs are held on a weekend, or at another school which can make it hard for students to attend. Mendez is one of those students who hasn’t been able to get to any previous fairs that she wanted to go to.
“They were all at other schools and I didn’t have a ride.” Mendez said.
Students who were there got useful information on things such as admission and scholarships to better prepare them for their futures.
“I can get a scholarship for power lifting!” junior Brandon Coon said.
With the advice given to them by each college representative students can now begin using it to take on the challenges of applying to college.
