How would other people describe you?
Oh gosh, Hopefully helpful, somebody with a positive attitude, somebody who they could go to for resources. Just overall a positive person.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching.
I did want to do marine biology, and then other than that I also thought about doing marketing for business, but my heart just ended up in education, and I want to stay in education for as long as I can.
Tell us about how you got into teaching.
So my first year of college, I was a business major. I took my first business class. Absolutely hated it. I took some other courses like general courses, and one of the courses had me tutor foster children. And through tutoring those foster children, I’ve developed a love of helping children learn. And then I realized it was something I wanted to do, and so I went with it.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?
I love hanging out with my family. We live in a golf course community. So we typically go for golf cart rides, but I love going to museums, zoos. I just love adventuring out with my daughter and my husband.
When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you?
People are kind of surprised when I tell them I’m from New Jersey. Some people are surprised when I tell them that I’m an only child.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
I think I’m most proud of myself for getting to where I am today, Kind of on my own. Because I grew up in New Jersey , I went to school in California, I moved to Texas not knowing a single soul, and I was able to get jobs, and kind of get to the place I wanted to be all on my own.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
Gosh my husband, just because he’s my rock, and because I get to come home to him, and he’s the person who kind of takes all my worries away.
What advice would you give to someone pursuing a career similar to yours?
Always have a growth mindset. That would kind of be my advice is, if you think about it you can never like to settle for where you are. You can always get better at what you’re currently doing, especially if you’re in the education world. The whole point is to just constantly keep learning and keep on growing
What do you hope to be remembered for?
That’s a big question! But I hope to be remembered for making an impact for Caney Creek, and maybe eventually the district.
What’s on your bucket list?
I would love to see the northern lights, and I would love to see a narwhal in real life.
