How would other people describe you?
A lot of people describe me as way too nice, but I’m overly bubbly and happy.
How and why did you start playing?
I started playing because one day I picked up a racket in elementary school, and I thought it was cool, but then I left it, and I was like “Nah, never mind”, and then in high school, I knew a girl that was in tennis, and I was like, “Oh I’ll try to see if it works out this time”, you know.
Describe how you prepare before a game.
I listen to music. Basically just eat too because I get too hungry, and then when I get hungry, I get mad, and then I lose.
What personal superstitions or traditions do you have before, during or after a game?
I drink orange juice and I eat a banana because I just feel like if you have orange juice in your system, you’re going to be able to have like, those nutrients that you need from orange juice. and get better, it makes me clear my head most of the time.
Tell us about your favorite memory as an athlete either on or off the field.
I remember kind of hitting the teacher in the head. It was my old coach. I hit him in the head, by accident, and it was very funny. I felt so bad, but it’s okay
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
I think one of the stories is playing against woodlands. We, since woodlands are pretty good and they go to state every year, I went against them and I won. We did tiebreaker, and we ended up winning.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
I’m thankful for my boyfriend Misael because I think he helped me realize a lot of things, especially in sports, and also, like in general, in life.
What advice would you give to people that may want to play your sport?
Be mentally prepared. Because I know a lot of athletes get in their head a lot whenever they say “Oh, can’t do this”, especially in tennis, you have to learn these skills sometimes.
What’s on your bucket list?
Bucket list to travel and to go back to London, because it was such a good experience. And I wanna eat the tacos I got there.
