- Grade: 11
- Sports: Water Polo and swim
- Position: Breaststroker and point
- Age Started Playing: 15
How would other people describe you?
They would describe me as outgoing and definitely persuasive and active in the community.
How and why did you start playing?
I started playing because the coach was asking people to join the team and I didn’t really say yes but I was just like, “Oh cool Maybe.” Then he called my coach while I was at practice and made my coach take me to the swim bus. I got on there mad, I did not want to do it, then I tried out and it was fun.
Describe how you prepare before a game.
We just do warm ups like passing and we don’t eat too much before a game because it’s important or you’ll get sick and all that.
What do you think your reputation is as an athlete?
I think it’s not the worst, like, I would say my athletic reputation is hardworking and passionate. I do summer swimming and all that, and I’d say leadership.
Tell us about your favorite memory as an athlete either on or off the field.
Last year I really wanted to be the breast broker for varsity on the swim team. Some things happened, and I ended up making it, and I had this goal where I wanted to reach under a minute and 26 for my 100 time. 100 is four laps, but I ended up beating my goal by like two and it was the last game of the season. It was a district.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
I ended up meeting my goals, but over the summer, I further exceeded my goals, and I’m way better than what it was. I just want to keep putting in the work.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
Coach Day for making me do it.
What advice would you give to people that may want to play your sport?
Don’t be afraid to try it. It’s like a lot of people are afraid to try it and don’t want to get on the bus, like how I was. But it’s actually really fun, and it keeps you really athletic.
What’s on your bucket list?
I want to work for a newspaper.
