How would other people describe you?
They think I am very personable. I have a lot of relationships with kids. I am outgoing and I love to smile.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching. ?
I was in human resources and oil and gas.
Tell us about how you got into teaching. ?
My sister was a teacher, and my grandmother was also a teacher. And so I started off observing them, and realized that’s kind of where I wanted to go and then started my certification process.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?
I like to travel around the world. I like to work on our house, making it aesthetically pleasing, and just hanging out with friends.
When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you?
That I am a cancer survivor.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
I am most proud of the way that I have raised my kids to be good human beings. They are kind, they are sweet, they get on each other’s nerves, but they are really nice to other people, and as a parent, that’s the most you can hope for.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
I am thankful for the students that I get to teach, because it has been able to open up an experience for me and show me empathy and understanding in ways I never thought possible.
What advice would you give to someone pursuing a career similar to yours?
It might be tough, but the rewards are definitely worth it. And find your niche, because once you find what you love, teaching, it’s amazing.
What do you hope to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered for being a loving, understanding, high achieving individual.
What’s on your bucket list?
Travel to a country I haven’t been to, maybe Spain or Ireland.
