Beginning on October 10th Caney Creek High School began to make the switch from incondescent lights to LED around the school as part of the districts effort to save money. Caney Creek’s associate principal of facilities Nancy Kahn works with the district in their energy saving efforts at the school.
“The LED lights are very energy efficient and save a lot of money, ” Ms Kahn said.
Making the switch has been something the district has thought about for awhile and after seeing the benefits that come with the LED’s they decided it would be best.
“The district has been looking at it for about five to six years now,” Kahn said.
Installing the lights does come with a lot of work and a large price tag but are expected to be well worth it.
“They come in to work on them 4:30 every evening and stay until around two in the morning,” Ms. Kahn said
The lights should take about three weeks to be finished and will be used in every class from now on.
