How would other people describe you?
Weird and random.
How and why did you start playing?
Coach Ferguson told me to do it.
Describe how you prepare before a game.
I listen to King Von.
What do you think your reputation is as an athlete?
I’m very proud of how far I’ve gotten for these past 2 years and I hope this year I can put all the hard work to use and not let it go to waste.
What personal superstitions or traditions do you have before, during or after a game?
I usually just prepare, put my headgear on, put my mouth guard on, and I start stretching, staying warm, so that my body doesn’t cool off.
Tell us about your favorite memory as an athlete either on or off the field.
Going to Dallas with the team. We were in the hotel room, and it was a pretty fun time. We went out at night, got canes, and messed around, played on the playstation, watched anime, or like or like almost everybody in the room, we’re just chilling.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
I’m most proud of myself for beating somebody that I never thought I was gonna be able to beat. I would always go into a match nervous thinking that I was gonna lose, because I was like, they’re probably better than me, and next thing I know, I was able to beat them, and I felt proud of that.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
Coach Ferguson, because without him, I wouldn’t have been able to, like, push myself past my limits. And to this day, whenever I get tired, he just tells me, you’re not tired, you got to get better. And that just helps me mentally.
What advice would you give to people that may want to play your sport?
It’s hard at first. It’s not going to be something easy. The conditioning is something that some people might just not like and give up on but they just have to stick with it. And once you get on the roll, you stay on that roll, and you keep it rolling.
What’s on your bucket list?
I want to place at least sixth in the state.
