How would other people describe you?
Usually people describe me as pretty chill, relaxed and sarcastic.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching.
Every year I change my mind but originally I was going to go into anthropology, which is like the study of different people, different cultures.
Tell us about how you got into teaching.
I got a job in college at a private school, and I found out I loved working with kids and, you know, just helping them do better. So I decided on this career path.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?
I read a lot of books. Obviously, I’m an English teacher. It’s very cliche. I have a lot of dogs, so we do a lot of nature walks out in the woods. I also ride horses.
When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you?
Usually the biggest thing is that I didn’t grow up in the United States. I grew up in Venezuela and Saudi Arabia.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
Going to college and finishing college, because my other siblings did not do that. the only person that’s really gone to college for my family is my dad.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
my parents, they’re very supportive of everything I do. I’m really lucky to have them.
What advice would you give to someone pursuing a career similar to yours?
you’re gonna have good days and you’re gonna have really bad days, but when you’re in the middle of one of those bad days, you just have to remember the good ones and keep telling yourself that it’s worth it, and you know you’re helping other people that need your help,
What do you hope to be remembered for?
I wanna be remembered as a good friend and a daughter.
What’s on your bucket list?
It is probably more traveling like I’ve been lucky. I’ve been able to go a lot of places in my life, but I still haven’t been to Ireland or Australia, and I’d like to go to those places.
How often do you think about the Roman Empire?
Strangely enough, I think about it a lot because, like I said, my degree is in history. I love history. I love the Roman Empire.
