How would other people describe you?
Positive, focus, and hard working.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching.
Not Well, I became a teacher, and then I had a really bad ankle injury, and so I started to go back to school to become a physical therapist, but then I decided to go back into teaching.
Tell us about how you got into teaching.
My mom was a teacher. My dad was a teacher. He was also a band director, and my grandma was a teacher. So I knew a lot about teachers, and originally I just wanted to be a PE teacher and coach, but then I also had a passion for science, and I also, I later taught chemistry, and now I’m teaching forensics. So I really do enjoy science, and so it just kind of worked out my two passions kind of.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?
well, I have a two year old boy at home and a five month old girl. So my kids at home keep me really, really busy. So other than that, I mean, I try to work out and every now and then I play some tennis, but really, I just come home and do family time.
When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you?
I was actually a librarian for two years.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
Probably eventually becoming a chemistry teacher, because in high school, I was horrible at chemistry.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
My grandad was a really good role model, and he taught me a lot of things. He passed away when I was 15, so and on. I just think he just left a really, just good example and good lessons to learn from in life that I still keep to this day.
What advice would you give to someone pursuing a career similar to yours?
Well, I just say, just go after your passion and don’t worry about the time that it takes to get you there. Don’t get too focused on having to have everything figured out early on, because you never know where life will take you.
What do you hope to be remembered for?
just being overall a good person who hopefully has a positive impact on others.
What’s on your bucket list?
maybe skydive, that’d be cool.
