Chase Crampton
- Positions: Audio video teacher and head swim coach
- School Activities: Swim and waterpolo
- Years at Caney Creek: 3
- Years Teaching: 5
How would other people describe you?
Pretty rambunctious, and I definitely probably didn’t take as much care of my studies as I should have been, and I was too busy goofing around and also swimming by myself.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching.
I worked at a Disney Television station for seven years before teaching.
Tell us about how you got into teaching.
While I was working at Disney, they were moving my position to Atlanta, and they offered that either I could go with it, or I could stay here. And because I could not move at the time, I decided that I would go be a teacher, because it was something I considered in high school and I would go teach the things that I was doing at the television station.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?
Hang out with family, play Pokemon, and video games. I also like to go to the beach and swim.
When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you?
They’re probably pretty surprised that I’m not as grumpy as I am.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
Most of my great accomplishments have been here at the creek, watching my swimmers develop.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
I’m very thankful for all the people that I work with here. This is my second school teaching at, and I don’t think I would want a third. I really like the administration here, especially Dr.Benson, Ms.Franklin, Mr.Moore. And I also love coaching with Coach Day, he’s a great partner for me.
What advice would you give to someone pursuing a career similar to yours?
To really focus, and try your best.
What do you hope to be remembered for?
I just hope to be remembered for growing the program that Coach Day and myself are working on, by just making swimming very competitive, and getting the water polo team into the same realm as the other schools, just so that we can balance Caney Creek on the board and athletics.
What’s on your bucket list?
To qualify more swimmers for those specialty invitational meets.
