How would other people describe you?
Hopefully as kind, helpful and a teacher that cares about her students.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching.
Before teaching I was a real estate agent and I taught yoga and if I were to go back and do something different I would probably be a therapist or a psychologist.
Tell us about how you got into teaching. I wanted a career, wanted to be able to have summer’s with my son because that’s really important to him and I wanted to make a difference so it seemed like a good fit.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why? What I do is read a lot, I play pokemon competitively with my son so we travel around to pokemon tournaments.
When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you? That I grew up homeschooled on a farm in kansas.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for. I’m most proud of myself for being self motivated in getting an education even though I grew up in an environment where it wasn’t prioritized so everything I learned I taught myself.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why? My husband is super supportive, understanding, considerate and Helpful. I am so thankful he is my partner.
What advice would you give to someone pursuing a career similar to yours?
Take your time and think it through. Make sure it’s something you’re interested in because at the end of the day it’s very demanding but also very rewarding. I think it’s a good idea to substitute and make sure it’s something you would enjoy doing.
What do you hope to be remembered for? Being kind and making the world a better place.
What’s on your bucket list?
I want to travel everywhere.
