How would other people describe you?
Most people describe me as quiet, nice, and smart.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching.
Before teaching, for a while I was interested in neuropsychology. It’s the study of how the brain affects people and in particular how brain injuries can affect how people can behave.
Tell us about how you got into teaching.
When I was in college, I didn’t know what to do in the future and I was in a program where we volunteered to tutor middle school students and I liked it so I thought “maybe I should be a teacher” so I started looking into it. I ended up deciding to go that route.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?
Recently I haven’t had time for that kind of thing, because I have two kids and recently had a baby, so I don’t really have time for that. But when I did have time, I liked to go out to eat, you know, and go to watch movies.
When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you?
I speak three languages. I speak English and Spanish fluently. I also know beginning level Korean and I can also read and write it. I used to be better at it but I stopped practicing it.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
When I was in high school, I was a valedictorian.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
I’m thankful for my husband, because he’s very supportive, and I like the life that we’re building together. And obviously, he gave two babies so I’m thankful for that.
What advice would you give to someone pursuing a career similar to yours?
My advice would be to be ready for the first few years of teaching to be very difficult and time consuming. I was most surprised with how time consuming it is to be a teacher because there’s a lot of tasks that you need to complete before you actually teach lestong and a lot of those tasks cant ‘be done in the school day especially when you start off and you’re trying to learn to be a teacher.
What do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope that people remember me as a kind and generous person who cares about people.
What’s on your bucket list?
To visit maybe like three or four counties I haven’t been to. And I would like to master 5 languages
How often do you think about the Roman Empire?
Never.
