Pinky Gets New Tamer

Before spring break the Caney Creek cheer coaches held tryouts to find the next 2015/2016 cheerleaders and mascots.
Baldemar Esquivel has been Petey for 2 years, next year will be his last. He is very dedicated to what he does for the squad.
“I would describe being a mascot as silly,” Esquivel said.
For Kaley Gollnisch, next year will be her first year as mascot.
“I wanted to be mascot next year so I could be down on the football field watching the plays closer,” junior Gollnisch said.
To be a mascot it is not about just putting on a suit and cheering with the squad, they do more meaningful things than that.
“I cheer for my team and also we go and take pictures with kids, meet and greet with people, try and pump up spirits,” Esquivel said.
Blair Bennet and Ashlee Emerson will be the only sophomores on the varsity squad next year.
“I am excited about being on varsity next year because I get to cheer at Friday night lights and show my spirit,” freshman Bennett said.
For some of the cheerleaders next year will be their last time cheering for Caney Creek.
“I will be sad because I was getting to know everybody and all the seniors this year are graduating,” junior Isaiah Saldivar said.
Congratulations to all the new cheerleaders, for making next year’s squad and to all the cheerleaders that already know how to spread Panther Pride!
Go Panthers!
