Speech and Debate:
The team had a successful weekend at the TFA tournament on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024.
- Camila Blancas placed 4th in POI.
- Polly Prince placed 2nd in Poetry.
- The team of Matthew Skelton and Johnny Solis placed 6th.
- The team of Joselin Guazozon and Zoe Aubrey placed 5th. Both competitors were named the top speaker of the tournament in CX Debate.
- Joselin Guazozon also placed 5th in foreign speaking.
- Breshad Robinson placed 5th in LD Debate.
- Ava Aldridge placed 3rd in Domestic Speaking, 3rd in LD Debate, and was the tournament top speaker in LD Debate.
NEHS:
The National English Honor Society hosted their holiday cheer meetings on Tuesday, Dec.10 and Wednesday, Dec.11, 2024. The members were able to write Christmas holiday letters to their elementary pen pals.
Student Council:
Student Council hosted its Creekmas thrift shop on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024. Where the club members were offering students the opportunity to get a free gift for someone, in time for the holidays.
Student Media:
Photographers competed in the ATPI’s fall photo contest which recognizes individual work over the last calendar year. Current members and Alumni from the program received an award out of hundreds of entries in each division. Caney Creek ranked No. 19 in total awards out of 120 schools, No. 13 in advanced division, and No. 8 in photojournalism categories.
- Angelica Vazquez received honorable mention in the advanced nature category.
- Karson ward received honorable mention in advanced sports action.
- Danny Noyola received honorable mention in advanced sports reaction.
- Mr. Stephen Green received second place in faculty photo story.
- Tony Sandoval received second place in beginning studio portrait.
- Bryant Benitez received honorable mention in advanced sports action photo and second place in advanced time exposure.
- Alumni Liz Fierros and Melissa Bonilla received honorable mentions for portrait and sports action photography.
The Creek Compass was nominated as a finalist for a CSPA Crown Award on Thursday, Dec.12, 2024. The website is one of the 21 schools that had been nominated for that award. It is the first CISD school since 2000 to receive the award.
UIL Academics:
Student Media members participated in the virtual UIL journalism meet throughout the school week. Logan Day secured his spot in the UIL’s All-State journalism staff, which features 100 of the top journalism students in the state every year.

- Ash Rezzoffi placed 7th in editorial writing.
- Breshad Robinson placed 8th in editorial writing.
- Ashley Mondragon placed 10th in headline writing.
- Jacquelyn Palacios placed 5th in copy editing.
SWAC:
The Student World Affairs club held its holiday party in Mr. Tanner’s room on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024.
