Theatre Competition

This past Saturday, theatre students traveled to College Station High school to compete in the annual UIL District, one act play competition.
After finishing the preparations for their performance, the squad took a devastating blow as their whole sound system got knocked over and disconnected. The team put everything back in its place as fast as they could but ended up surpassing the time limit set for their preparations and were told they were disqualified.
Though some were discouraged, the team was still able to perform, so, they put forth some team effort, got everything back up and running and put on the best show they possibly could.
“We just put on the best show that we could because thats what we were there to do,” junior Nathan Darand said. “Winning or not, were gonna put on the best show we can.”
The crowd reacted very positively towards their act and the team later found out that they were actually not disqualified. They ended up placing in the top three spots and are able to advance to the next competition.
“It was an exciting competition,” theatre teacher Charlene Ingle said. “…and, after a lot of obstacles that our students had to overcome, we were able to pull out a victory. Our students performed well under a lot of pressure.”
Despite hardships, the whole team maintained professionalism through the whole event and learned a lot.
“We learned basically never to give up,” junior Garet Stuckey said.
The theatre will perform in their next event this coming Friday, April 10, in Waco.
