How would other people describe you?
I think other people would describe me as kind, polite and respectful.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching.
I wanted to become a strength and conditioning coach on a college level.
Tell us about how you got into teaching.
Got into teaching because I was working at a summer camp called Girls Incorporated, and we had sections where we were teaching them certain things, and I really liked the environment and how the kids responded to me. I was like, Okay, I’ll try teaching. Why not? And then it worked.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?
I am currently in grad school. It’s not fun, but that’s what I’m doing. And aside from that, I like to work out anything fitness related.
When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you?
I think they are most surprised that I know a lot of things, like from medical to fitness to social and people tend to be more interested in the fact that I have a twin sister.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
I was most proud of myself because I did not want to go back to school to get my master’s degree, and I applied to a school that I always wanted to go to, Florida State University, and they accepted me, and I’m currently in their grad school program.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
I would have to say I’m thankful for my twin sister because she’s really my best friend. So I called her about everything. We talk on the phone all the time, FaceTime, and I’m just grateful that I get to be her sister.
What advice would you give to someone pursuing a career similar to yours?
I would tell them to have a career plan over the next five years of how you want your teaching career to look. Have an angle. Don’t settle. Always work hard and give your best every day.
What do you hope to be remembered for?
Not to be known as a classroom teacher of 180 students, but a school teacher of over 2700.
What’s on your bucket list?
So my bucket list is to have enough money saved up to where each year I can take a trip out of the country, whether it be for a week or a couple weeks. I just want to explore the world.
