Foreign Exchange Student Learns American Ways

Lookout, Creek! There’s a new student roaming the halls, and his name is Felix Clajus. He is a sixteen year old foreign exchange student from Germany.

One of the things he finds most interesting about American school is the class schedule.

“In America, you can choose what classes you want. In Germany, our schedule is different every day. We always have a class period that is two periods long,”  junior Clajus said.

Traditions and customs are different around the world.

“The first day of school was interesting. In Germany, we are allowed to roam the halls during lunch. No one cares. But here you have to stay in the cafeteria. The meat here is better but your chicken is gross,” Felix said with a laugh, “ but most German food is seafood. We have over  a thousand types of bread, but here it took me two hours just to find bread.”

Felix will be at school until the end of the school year. If you see him walking in the hallway tell him “Guten Tag!” which means “Good day!” in German.
