Robin Hood Returns

Do you remember the courageous character, Robin Hood, from your childhood? This past Thursday and Saturday the Caney Creek drama department put on the classic play of, “The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood”. This play was a dramatic comedy that had the audience laughing and boo-hissing all the way through.

“Although as Prince John would probably be slightly offended for being booed-hissed at, I thought it was very clever and neat to have the audience play along,” senior Nathan Durand said.

Our very own, Garet Stuckey, played the lead role in this production. He was the heroic Robin Hood who fought to help the poor.

“It was amazing [to act a hero], the kids loved me and I had fun,” senior Stuckey said.

The talented Shelby Ingle played the role of Lady in Waiting, who took care of Lady Marian. As part of her role, every time the Dungeon of Demise was mentioned she had to scream her lungs off.

“It [screaming] took a lot of effort to not let my voice go out, after the 5th show my throat hurt so bad. But I enjoyed it, I always play the funny character,” junior Ingle said.

Olivia Wren played the Lady Marian, who was in hatred towards the Sheriff of Nottingham and Prince John because they were making her marry the sheriff. But she was in love with Robin Hood.

“My character was very dramatic and not necessarily lady like, her gestures and voice were extra exaggerated and fun,” senior Wren said.

It’s Marc Carrizales first year in theater making this his first production with CCHS. He played, Will Scarlet, one of Robin’s merry men.

“I felt awesome, I had a great time, my part was the best. I was Will a merry man the best merry man there was, it was so much fun. For anyone who wants to tryout, do it!,” freshman Carrizales said.

From boo-hissing to screaming, this play was a whirlwind of fun. Don’t forget to check out the next play, Taming of the Shrew, happening Thursday, October 29th.
