Remember mullets? That popular hairstyle from the 70s It’s been 55 years since the mullet was first introduced to the world and now it’s ready for a comeback.
“I thought it would be fun just to have one [mullet], so I can later in life say I had a mullet,” senior Mason Rogers said.
From Billy Ray Cyrus to Patrick Swayze, who had some of the greatest mullets known to man, now to many of our male students here at the creek.
“I saw myself with a mullet and I liked it. Billy Ray Cyrus persuaded me to,” junior Colton Smith said.
Some of the student’ families have had mullets and that was a big influence on their choice to bring it back.
“My dad and his brothers [had mullets],” senior Derrick Drake said.
The students who have this fashionable hair style have brought up a name to identify themselves with, The Mullet Mafia.
“We call ourselves The Mullet Mafia because we’re a group that came together as one like a family; we strive to maintain our mullets and the mullet society, as well we take care of each other,” senior Mason Rogers said.
Even though some guys are enjoying their new hairdo, many girls have some very negative things to say about the mullet frenzy.
“I think mullets are disgusting,” senior Taylor Clardy said.
Others like mullets and think they are very fashionable.
“I love mullets very much, I even persuaded my boyfriend to get one,” freshman Kenzie Maynard said.
Some students have other, more personal reasons for growing a mullet.
“I don’t care much about the Mullet Mafia, I just care about the wind through my curls,” senior Austin Sanders said.
Whether it’s mullet or no mullet, they’re coming back in style. That saying, “business in the front and party in the back” may even be the newest bumper sticker for some of our students.
