How would other people describe you?
Pretty outgoing and funny. People say I’m smart and look up to me and try to get answers from me.
How and why did you start playing?
I used to play soccer back in the day but I didn’t want to play soccer anymore and my junior high, where I used to live, asked if I wanted to play football and I wanted to get away from soccer anyways so I started lifting in 6th grade and then in 7th grade I started playing football. It kind of started as a filler, but then I kind of bonded with it and I started liking it a lot more in high school.
Describe how you prepare before a game.
I start in the morning when I first wake up, I try to do a routine I guess you could say. I drink a lot of water throughout the day and then on the bus, on the way to the game, I listen to music like rap and I listen to a lot of rock music. I do the same thing every game day.
What do you think your reputation is as an athlete?
My reputation as an athlete is a good leader. I like to try to lead so I’m in front of the pack. I try to have a good voice and lead for the younger generation so they could look up to me. I want everyone to look up to me.
What personal superstitions or traditions do you have before, during or after a game?
During halftime of the game, I like to think back on what I did wrong in the first half and then I plan to improve it in the second half and usually I do, whether that be not getting off a block or not doing my assignment. I try to fix it, correct it, and get after it in the second half. After the game I thank my coaches, first off, for trusting me with the team and my position and on the way back to school I listen to music again.
Tell us about your favorite memory as an athlete either on or off the field.
My favorite memory as an athlete is last year during The Woodlands High School game, I had two interceptions and that was really a turning point for me because previously, last season I wasn’t a starting player and that was the first game I started and I had two interceptions that game and that eventually got me to second team all-district.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
I’m most proud of my two interceptions during The Woodlands game and then the game after that was against Cleveland and I had another interception so in total I had three interceptions last season. Also, second team all-district, I’m very proud of that and hopefully this year we win first in all-district.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
I’m thankful for my coach, Coach Webb. He helped me in a lot of things I know right now. I don’t think I would be the person I am today, whether it’s on the field or off the field, he’s taught me a lot about being a leader and being vocal because we communicate a lot so I thank him.
What advice would you give to people that may want to play your sport?
Just give it your all man, you cant quit and you can’t let anything get in your head. You have to keep pushing because if you quit and you don’t push yourself, you’re not gonna be a successful person. In life you need to push past boundaries. Without that, you won’t be successful.
What’s on your bucket list?
Something on my bucket list is getting into the University of Texas at Austin and I want to do good in life with business.
