Not everyone grows up to live out a childhood dream, but that’s exactly what Caney Creek High School alumnus Marco Revuelta is doing.

Revuelta recently left his weekend anchor and reporter job at KGNS TV news in Laredo, Texas, to work in Waco as a reporter for KWTX news.

Marco Revuelta originally grew up in Houston before moving to Conroe. He went to Hicks Elementary in Alief ISD before transferring to Bush Elementary in second grade, where his dreams and aspirations came into light.

Every morning before school there were live TV announcements he would go on to read the pledges and have a moment of silence.

“I guess what inspired me the most was the cameras and microphones set up all around the room,” Revuelta said. “I was blown away that a small place could be broadcasted around the whole school.”

He graduated from Caney Creek in 2007 where he took many courses like newspaper and yearbook, and also chose to participate in many after-school activities. He got his broadcast journalism degree at the University of Houston.

He was also a part of KPAN his sophomore, junior and senior years. Back when he was in school, the newspaper was called “On the Prowl” instead of The Prowler as we know it today.

He was also involved in many after school activities like Leo Club, and Student Council, and in Drama Club with one of his favorite teachers, current theater teacher Jill Tanner, who at the time was Jill McDonald or “Miss Mack.”

“Marco also had a job during high school and managed to work, keep up his grades and stay heavily involved in extracurricular activities,” Tanner said. “He knew in high school that he wanted to pursue a career in journalism and he worked very hard to achieve this goal.”
