Preschool to open up on CCHS campus next year
May 22, 2018
Caney Creek High School will bring back an education training lab on campus starting next year.
This program will allow current education and training students to teach their own preschool class.
“We had (this idea) for many, many years now,” Assistant Principal William Kelly said. “We stopped about five or more years ago. We’ve had enough teachers now that have small children where we thought ‘well let’s bring that back’.”
The plan for next year is to allow kids 3 to 4 years old to spend a day on campus with the education and training students. Those children will belong to CCHS faculty and staff members. Kelly said this will help prevent the classes from having to travel to get the same experience.
“Our students who are in those classes, instead of going to like Moorhead and Milam to work with kids, they’ll get to work with kids directly here on campus,” Kelly said.
The lab will be taught by Michelle Sauceda. The cost for teachers to register their kids will be $315 a month per child.
CCHS previously had a program like this but was discontinued under Principal Gregg Poole who now serves as superintendent of Barbers Hill ISD.
