Storm causes cancellation of after school activities, football games

All after school activities and late buses were canceled late Wednesday afternoon as rains from Tropical Storm Imelda continued to soak east Montgomery County.
As the conditions of the weather from Imelda promotes heavy rains and flash watch for more than seven million people, according to a CNN report.
Principal Dr. Jeff Stichler canceled all afterschool activities to help get students home faster before more rain came into the area, which is already prone to flooding. Groups affected included marching band practice, basketball open gym, both JV and freshman football games against Grand Oaks, sophomore and juniors parent night, and active-schooter training for teachers.
Junior and sophomore parent night will be rescheduled.
Other schools in Conroe ISD released at normal schedules.
It is unclear whether Conroe ISD will cancel school for Thursday, but according to a statement the district posted on social media and its website, it is keeping an eye on weather reports.
Conroe ISD will be close contact with local authorities and monitoring the weather and roadways. Any update will be posted on www.conroeisd.net as well as social media.
