On Friday, Oct. 4, senior students of Mr. Meaux’s forensic class participated in a hands-on activity involving the detection and gathering of fingerprints.

“It was fun and messy and very interesting,” senior Rebecca Lowe said. “It was like being at a real crime scene, even though we were creating the fingerprints ourselves.”

Students, equipped with lab coats and brushes, applied carbon powder over the surface of windows, door handles, aluminum cans, CD’s and mirrors. They then lifted the finger prints with tape. The experience was educational and gave students an insight into what being a crime scene technician can really be like.
