SPORT RECAPS 1/15- 1/20: Boys soccer continues the winning streak

Junior Mario Leon Portillo makes the attempt to find a way around 3 Cy-Fair defensive players on Jan,14. 2023 at Kingwood’s Soccer Stadium. Varsity was on a 4 win streak, and went on to win 3-1 against Cy-Fair making it their 5th win in a row. “I was concentrating on holding the ball long enough to buy time for my teammate to check in for the pass so we could move up and attack.” Portillo said “Winning is always a good feeling especially when we win 5 games in a row.”

Wrestling

On Saturday the wrestling teams participated in the Chicken Wing Invitational, with Senior Jaden MacKinnon (157) placing 4th, and Junior Jordan Nance (126) placing 3rd.. They will take on Kingwood in an away duel on Wednesday, and they will Wrestle at home in a quad meet against Katy Paetow, Cypress Ranch, and Houston Milby.

Girls Soccer

In a tournament, the girls soccer team beat Humble (4-1) and Spring (2-1), but lost to Magnolia West going 3-1. They will play Conroe at home on Tuesday, and Grand Oaks on Friday in and away district game.

Girls Basketball

In a game on Wednesday against Conroe the girls basketball team lost 88-22. They took on Grand Oaks in a losing effort on Saturday, going 81-15. They will be playing an away game against Cleveland on Wednesday, and they will play against College Park at home on Saturday.

Boys Soccer

In a tournament last weekend, Boys Soccer beat Tomball Memorial (2-1), Kingwood (2-1), and Cy-Fair (3-1). They will be playing against Conroe in an away district game on Tuesday, and they will play at home on Saturday against Grand Oaks.

Boys Basketball

The Boys Basketball teams took on Conroe on Wednesday losing 51-42. They played at Grand Oaks on Saturday in a losing effort going 62-39. Their next game will be at home against Cleveland on Wednesday, and they will play again on Saturday in and away district game against College Park.
