On Nov 4th, 2014 the State of Texas will cast their ballot for the new or re-electing their representatives. World history teacher and sponsor for the Young Democrats of Caney Creek, Amy Perez (D), has decided to run for Texas State Legislature.

Perez hopes to represent the teachers of Texas to help educational reforms, which she feels have been working against the best interest of young students.

“I think the legislature has not done enough to help,” Amy Perez said, “…it’s been a hard year in education and not much has been done to help out public schools,” .

Perez has already begun to give speeches and rally voters in the Houston area. Texas district 150, which Perez is running to represent in the Texas Houst covers the much of the Spring/Tomball area

“I feel really proud of my school.” junior Chelsea Weatherly said, “it’s not only someone I know and trust, but someone who cares.”

Perez will be running against the long time representative of our district, Debbie Riddle (R). Riddle stands for her conservative party and principles and has no official stance on Texas education.
