How would other people describe your high-school self?
I talked a lot, and I was friendly. I was always happy, and was involved in a lot of different sports. I was also involved in a lot of musical stuff, I liked to sing in the choir, listen to plays, and musicals.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching?
I wanted to do two things in my life, I wanted to be a flight attendant and I wanted to be a teacher. I’ve been blessed to have grown to do both things.
Tell us about how you got into teaching?
I always love to read, and I thought, “Well, I’ll become an English teacher so I can read a lot.” I like high school and middle school, like I like the older kids. I never really wanted to teach little kids because I don’t have a lot of patience.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?
I like to run, I did quite a few half marathons. I like to spend time with my family, my husband and my kids. I like to travel and go to the beach.

They are surprised that I was an airline stewardess.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
Recently, I got my national board certification, and I’m the only English teacher in Conroe ISD, which was really hard to do something, I’m really proud about.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
I am thankful for my husband, because he’s a fantastic father and husband. We have two special needs kids and I couldn’t ask for a better dad for them.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Be confident, I was not confident at all. I was always worried about what people thought of me, and now I don’t care what people think, so I wish I would have had more confidence back then.
What do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope I’m remembered for being kind and for making a difference, I love teaching, and I love English, but I really want to be the teacher that makes a difference in someone’s life.
What’s on your bucket list?
I’ve always wanted to go skydiving. I’ve never gone skydiving, so that’s on my bucket list.
