How would other people describe your high-school self?
They would describe me as shy and quiet.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching?
Originally, I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher but then later on I wanted to pursue nursing.
Tell us about how you got into teaching.
I really enjoyed my family consumer science classes in high school so that’s what persuaded me to do it.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?
In the time that I’m not running around with my kids I usually try to craft.
When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you?
Usually people are surprised when they realize I’m actually really quiet.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
I’m most proud of myself for my family and how we always juggle and make it work.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
I’m thankful for my husband, he has always been supportive of our school and the students.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
To be more confident in yourself, don’t be so shy, be more outgoing and be more involved.
What do you hope to be remembered for?
Making a difference in my students lives.
What’s on your bucket list?
My goal is to hit all 50 states, I have only been to 30.
