Caney Creek hosted a career fair that took place in the cafeteria along the back wall. There were many tables set up with informational brochures and packets as well as sign up sheets to have more information emailed.

“There were lots of opportunities and career inspirations for students there,” senior Michael Rojas said.

An airline captain was there, in full uniform with three stripes on his arms, and he was armed with information for students. His booth featured information about schooling and what he had done to become a pilot.

Lone Star Community College was also there with information about early enrollment and the career paths that Lone Star provides schooling in. In this particular instance, they were sharing information on their extensive nursing program.

Lone Star has a strong presence pm this campus and on May 12, there was a Lone Star representative on campus helping seniors with early enrollment in the popular community college. Students were also able to take the TSI test and attend a Lone Star orientation seminar. This allowed senior students to get an early start in their college future.

“There were a lot of people with information there and it really got me thinking about my future,” junior Doris Duvall said.

Students don’t have to wait for the next career or college fair to get a head start on ideas for their future. At anytime during school hours and even sometimes after school, the College and Career Center is open to underclassmen and seniors alike. Mrs. Hernandez is there to help students with college and scholarship opportunities as well as planning for other aspects of futures and careers.
