Questions
How would other people describe your high-school self?
Competitive and shy.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching?
No, I kind of always knew I was going to be a coach. I had much respect for the coaches that helped me through life and I wanted to pass that on.
Tell us about how you got into teaching.
When I was a senior in college I got brought in to be a substitute for a class and to be the head track coach at a school that was close to my university, so I started there.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?
Play various sports, follow and watch sports and boss my kids around on their sports. I like to watch my kids participate and I like to compete.
When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you?
That I don’t get mad easily, like to compete in everything and that I’m easy going.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
Most proud of my children, I raised good hearted kids.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
My college coach Howie Ryan. He believed in me when nobody else did and gave me the opportunity to compete in college and running.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Take advantage of every practice every day, all the time.
What do you hope to be remembered for?
That I cared about people and wanted the best for everybody.
What’s on your bucket list?
Hunting trip in Alaska.
