Elizabeth Mendiola, Social Media Editor

Elizabeth Mendiola is a photographer and the social media editor for Caney Creek High School. This is her second year being on staff. Mendiola is part of the Panteras En Fuego dance team and Student council. She also enjoys listening to music, specifically oldies in Spanish, she likes dancing and spending time with her friends and family. “Eli” is planning to double major on Forensics/Criminal justice and in photography.

Abrahm Hernandez (12) was practicing for his upcoming drill meet on Sept.10, 2025. ROTC usually has drill practices weekly every Monday and Wednesday. Hernandez mentions that from joining ROTC involuntarily, now became something big from his life. “They had put me in ROTC because P.E was full but I ended up liking it and giving it a try,” Hernandez said. “In my opinion it's a very fun experience.”

Keilly Santos (11) was demonstrating her skills to a ROTC student on Sept. 10, 2025. ROTC members are getting ready for an upcoming drill meet. Santos has been part of ROTC for years now and might use this for the future as backup. “I am more focused on getting into college but if anything I would join the Navy as a backup plan,” Santos said. “ I would highly recommend ROTC for people. It is very fun to talk to new people and have new experiences, plus free food? I say it's a win honestly.”

ROTC Member was practicing with a rifle in Overflow Parking lot on Sept. 10, 2025. NJROTC is having a drill meet coming up soon so members attending are trying to get better at their skills.

Allison Nahuactl (11) and ROTC members practice at the overflow parking lot on Sept. 10, 2025. Nahuactl joined to follow a friend but it ended up being one of her hobbies. (Translated) “At first I had joined because of a friend but ROTC helped me with a tough time,” Nahuactl said. “I am honestly considering enrolling for the army.”

FEELINGS. Senior Erick Garcia was feeling very emotional as they announced his name during senior night on Aug. 29, 2025. Garcia mentioned feeling a mixture of happiness, fear but also surprised for making it to his senior year. “I was feeling nervous, excited, scared, and proud to be there,” Garcia said. “I will for sure miss band although it was a ‘Love and Hate’ relationship."

READY TO GRADUATE. Senior Anabel Castillo had mixed feelings as she walked with her parents during senior night on Aug.29, 2025. They had messed up Castillo's name when they were calling names for seniors making it very “annoying” yet uncomfortable for her and her family. “I felt embarrassed while I walked with my parents because they messed up my name,” Castillo said. “Honestly at the same time I am also glad that it’s my senior year because I'm ready to leave."

LEAD THE WAY. Junior Jade Bradley led the way for seniors and their parents during senior night on Aug.29, 2025. The Caney Creek cheerleaders were helping keep the line of seniors with their families going smoothly.

LEADER. Senior Megan Dunn led the colorguard during the School song. The Mighty Panthers Band played the school song before beginning the VS Waller home football game on Aug. 29, 2025. “We show all the energy we have to show that we are happy to be here and show our pride,” Dunn said. “This game felt odd because this time I'm a senior and I will miss my underclassmen.”

The Starlettes Dance team performed during the half time of the VS Waller Home football game on Aug. 29, 2025. “We pray because it makes the girls feel more confident before they perform,” Khloes said. “We have been keeping this superstition alive ever since I first started teaching in Caney Creek.”

SHOWING UP. Senior Stephanie Rivera and Senior Dana Castaneda Sanabria showed up to show spirit representing the student council. Student council members went to the VS Waller home football game on Aug. 29, 2025 to show school pride. “It makes me feel good because it makes me feel like I'm more involved in the school, especially because this is my senior year,” Rivera said. “I feel proud I'm representing Caney Creek."
