Varsity Sport Recap 09/23/19 – 09/28/19

Volleyball 

The lady panther volleyball team had a rough start last week. Friday’s game got rescheduled to Monday due to Tropical Depression Imelda . 

The Panthers lost Monday against Huntsville hornets ( 10-25 , 17-25 , 14-25 ) , then went on  to lose against the Montgomery bears on Tuesday ( 25-27, 15-25 , 12-25 ) and played again Friday against Grand Oaks grizzly losing  (4-25, 10-25, 13-25). Their district record is now 0-10.

Their next game will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. against the Lake Creek Lions.

Football 

The panther football team faced of against the College Station cougars who are the 2017 5A state champion for their first district game this past Thursday night at Woodforest Bank stadium.

The Panthers lost the game 56-7 against the College Station cougars. Their district record is 0-1 and their overall record is now 1-3

Their next fixture is this Friday at 7:30 Pm against the Tomball cougars. 

Cross Country 

This Saturday the boys and girls cross country teams gave a good showing at the Liberty Invitational.

Junior Thomas Crider led the boys to a second place finish with a time of 18:29. This is the first piece of silverware the boys have won this season.

Junior Montserrat led the girls to a third place finish with a time of 21:44. Fellow teammate Itzela Darkenwald collapsed 100 meters before the finish line and could not finish the race.

The team runs this Saturday at Huffman high school.
