The Mighty Panther Band scored straight one’s at the Texas UIL Region 19 marching band competition on Tuesday, Oct. 22. The band also made school history by being the first to advance to the Texas UIL 4A Area marching competition. The Texas UIL 4A Area marching competition is the second competition the band must attend, the band must be one of the top ten bands to march again later that day and achieve the lowest possible composite score to be one of the top two bands to advance to the Texas UIL State Marching Competition in San Antonio, Texas at the Alamodome.

“It feels incredible,” band director Jeremy Rehbein said. “It was a lot of hard work but it was well deserved by the kids and they really earned it. Persistence.”
Many band members felt that the performance did not go as well as they wanted to but senior Drum Major Courtney Krasney had a different view about that. She called the band in a huddle and told them to be confident because that was the best she has ever seen them perform.

“I feel absolutely amazing,” Krasney said. “I’m standing on a podium so I see a whole different view. And from what I saw as a whole they worked as a team and pulled it off.”

The Mighty Panther Band will march again this Saturday Oct. 26 at the Galena Park Independent School District Athelic Stadium for the Texas UIL 4A Area competition. The stadium is located at 15025 Wallisville Road, Houston, Texas 77049. Good luck, Mighty Panther Band.
