How would other people describe your high-school self?
I was a hot mess. I did welding. I was the only girl in the shop, so I acted more like a boy than I did a girl.
Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching?
Ag teaching was always the goal. Well, except for kindergarten. I wanted to be a zookeeper, but that fizzled out.
Tell us about how you got into teaching.
My ag teachers got me into it. They were really great, I moved around from school to school a lot. When I found FFA and ag, I felt like I had a home and, so, that’s what I wanted to do for other students.
What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?
I watch my son in baseball tournaments and bake. Cheesecake is my favorite to bake.
When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you?
That I’m a female ag teacher; there’s not many of us in our field.
What is your hidden talent?
My hidden talent was that I could sing.
What is something you know a weird amount about that isn’t related to something you teach?
I know a lot about “The Office” TV show.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
I’m most proud of my my children.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
I’m most thankful for my grandpa because he’s always believed in me and never gave up on me.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
To not let the little things get to you and just focus on the bigger picture.
What do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope to remember for giving my students a safe place to come and talk when they need someone.

To meet (former Panic! at the Disco lead singer) Brendon Urie.
