Uriel Rangel is a photographer at Caney Creek High School. He is in his second year on staff and is involved in Tri-M and band. Uriel also takes dual credit classes and works hard to maintain good grades.

BATTLE Sophomore Jesse Harjo was battling to get in front of his opponent during the Longhorn Stampede meet on Sept. 18, 2025. “I'm on my second lap and im getting closer to the finish, i was next to this kid and he was elbowing,” Harjo said. “I realized whatever happens, happens it's in God's plan and I'm going to push myself and maybe PR.”

RUN FOREST RUN. Freshman Gracie Hernandez runs her 2 mile race with her coaches cheering her on during the Longhorn Stampede meet on Sept. 18, 2025. After the race she was tired, and hungry, on the way back to school the team went to Raising Canes where enjoyed her meal and time with her friends. “ I was running my 2 mile, it was hot and I was hungry,” Hernandez said. “I think I got 42 out of like 600 girls and I felt like I could've done better because I was top 20 and the second mile killed me.”

READY, SET, GO. Freshman Amari Domenget bolts as soon as the sound of the gun shot during the Longhorn Stampede meet on Sept. 18, 2025. Feeling excited at the meet he did well and set a new personal record while thinking about just passing the other racers. “I felt confident because I felt good that day. I was hydrated and excited for it just being at the meet and like running,” Domenget said. “I did good, I got a new personal record that was 22:14.”

SHOOT. Freshman Jett Banes sees someone passing and takes the chance to show how fast he is during the Longhorn Stampede meet on Sept. 18, 2025. Banes got 6th place out of 180 and felt good after the race, not feeling tired. “I felt good, it was a 5k so i try to start out strong and then stay consistent through it and then finish strong at the end,” Banes said. “After the race I didn't even feel tired, I didn't realize we were finishing till the end.”

SCREAM AND SHOUT. Junior Alia Osorto cheers for her team while being injured, during the Longhorn Stampede meet on Sep. 18, 2025. “I was cheering for my team since that's all I can do since I'm injured,” Osorto said. “I just feel bad like if its silent and then no one is cheering for them I think that is really messed up, because like we all decided to get up at 5 or 4 in the morning and that most people don't do it so what they're doing is pretty hard and deserved a little cheer up.”

WITH EASE. Senior Stacy Balderas ran a 2 mile race keeping up with the other racers during the Longhorn Stampede meet on Sep.18. With the intense heat messing Balderas she still pushes through getting a medal and making it 20th place out of 620 racers. “I just needed to get through it because like Banes always says pain is just for a little bit, you can get through it if you put your mindset to it,” Balderas said. “The heat was really getting to me and I was like ok im almost done, i just need to get through this.”
