Logan Day, Sports Editor

Logan Day is the Sports Editor for Caney Creek’s Student Media team, as well as a photographer and writer. Day has been on staff for two years and participates on the district team for Swim and Water Polo. He is also a member of NEHS and QASNHS. Day competes in journalism for UIL academics. As of now Day won first place in the beginning feature writing class at Gloria’s Shield Workshop for journalism and looks to win more awards in the future. Day has maintained honor roll through his Freshman and Sophomore year and plans to extend it through his Junior year. He is an outgoing, cooperative student and aspires to study journalism in College. His goal is to build up his JEA portfolio throughout the rest of high school and then compete for the journalist of the year award.

MOTHERS OF HOUSTON. Kamala Harris rally audience members cheer from the general admission rails holding a “Mothers against Greg Abbott” sign in NRG Stadium on Oct. 25. Abbot is the Governor of Texas, who had a hand in abortion laws. The phrase was meant to parallel the infamous Donald Trump slogan, “Make America Great Again” by using the same acronym

WAVE OF CHANGE. Vice President Kamala Harris walks out for her first appearance at the Houston rally in NRG Stadium on Oct. 25. The appearance of Harris herself was not until the end of the rally, where she was introduced by Beyoncé.

FREEDOM. Kamala Harris supporter holds a sign stating “Reproductive Freedom” in the midst of the audience at the Houston rally in NRG Stadium on Oct. 25. The rally offered signs to all audience members near the entrance of the stadium, many of which took.

CYA HATERS. Vice President Kamala Harris waves goodbye to a Trump supporter heckling from the stands at her rally in NRG Stadium on Oct. 25. The heckler was met with loud boos from the crowd and was escorted out of the stadium by security.

EMBRACING THE FUTURE. Kelly Rowland goes in to give Vice President Kamala Harris a hug after welcoming her to the rally held in NRG Stadium on Oct. 25. Rowland endorsed Harris through her speech, calling voters to elect her.

REUNITED. Celebrity Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland walk from the curtain, making their first appearance at the Kamala Harris rally held in NRG Stadium on Oct. 25. Knowles and Rowland are both former members of Destiny’s Child and the rally served as a public reunion.

IT'S REAL. Guest speakers Amanda Swarovski, and Josh Swarovski speak at the podium for the Kamala Harris rally held in NRG Stadium on Oct. 25. Amanda and Josh spoke on their personal experience with abortion. Josh specifically called for men to support Harris and fight abortion laws. “I want to tell every last voter, including each and every man out there, that this is our fight too. The decision about the fight that's right, and the decision about if and when to start a family should be ours to make, not Donald Trump's,” Josh said. “That's why we need to elect Vice President Harris, and Representative Colin Allred.”

SINGIN’ FOR RIGHTS. Country Singer Willie Nelson sits on stage with his guitars waving to the audience at the Kamala Harris rally held in NRG Stadium on Oct. 26. Nelson endorsed Harris for president, and performed “Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” and “On The Road Again.”

GUARD. Three police officers converse together in the general admission section at the Houston Kamala Harris rally held in NRG Stadium on Oct. 25. The rally had police guarding every entrance of the building, along with secret service hidden in the stands of the stadium.

CRY OUT. Audience members of the Kamala Harris Houston Rally Held in NRG Stadium on Oct. 25 shout in support of guest speaker Yessenia Gomez. The rally hosted multiple guest speakers and featured videos on people who held experiences with the abortion laws.

HEAR THE DEMOCRACY. Dallas Native DJ Tryfe holds his hands in the air while attempting to energize the crowd at the Kamala Harris Rally in NRG Stadium on Oct. 25. Tryfe has been DJing for 10 years, but stated this was the biggest audience he has ever performed.

Blanks wanted to donate blood to prepare herself for what to expect her senior year, so she can earn her blood drive chord. “Me and my sister, we agreed to do it together,” Blanks said. “I know that blood is gonna go towards something like, it'll be used for something important, hopefully, can save a life or help somebody.”
