How would other people describe your high-school self?

They would describe me as small with a lot of science and math encouraged. I grew up in the town where the atomic bomb was built and most of the parents are engineers or physicists.

Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching?

Keep scrolling to read more!

Before I was a teacher I was an Industrial Engineer for 6 years.

Tell us about how you got into teaching.

I was working as an engineer in Mexico and was not always able to get back to the U.S. in time to get my baby from daycare so I had to switch careers. However, even after they offered me part-time if I came back, at that point I decided I would enjoy teaching more, I do miss the paychecks though.

What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?

Right now we are remodeling our house and that takes up most of my free time. I do enjoy walking my dogs, reading, watching TV and boating.

When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you?

I know a lot about the manufacturing process since that’s what I did as an engineer. People are also surprised that I used to be an engineer, I was a terrible high school student when I was a freshman and sophomore, and that I’m from New Mexico.

Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.

I am most proud of my girls.

Who is someone you are thankful for and why?

My 3 amazing daughters. They’ve all chosen interesting career paths and are doing what needs to be done.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Enjoy yourself, you’re only young once, but with that said, don’t make any choices that close doors to your future.

What do you hope to be remembered for?

Being someone my loved ones can count on and turn to when needed.

What’s on your bucket list? (If needed) What aspirations do you have for the future?

I would like to eventually go to Italy.
