Buses held back due to fire

Before students were dismissed today around 2:23 p.m., administration announced that three bus routes were being held back. The students who ride these buses were asked to report to the cafeteria and contact their parents to come pick them up.

The cause of this was a fire on FM-1484 near S. Williams, which is now under control. Although only a couple of non-residential structures were lost, the road is to be avoided as fire agencies are still active throughout the area reported by the Montgomery County Police Reporter.

At 1:45 p.m., the school was notified there was a road closure due to the “containment of a forest fire.” To ensure the safety of students, administration found it best to keep those students from the affected bus routes on campus according to principal Dr. Terri Benson.

In addition, a burn ban has been placed in all parts of southeast Texas. The national weather service also issued a red flag warning, the highest fire danger level, over the weekend.
