UIL ACADEMICS:
These are the following teams that competed in the UIL academics contest on Saturday, Feb.10, 2024 at the Tomball Invitational.
JOURNALISM:
- Natalia Molina placed 1st in news, 1st in feature, 2nd in copy editing and 5th in headline writing.
- Liz Fierros placed 3rd in feature and 6th in copy editing.
- Justin Esteban placed 2nd in headline writing.
- Margarita Rangel placed 4th in copy editing.
The journalism team placed 1st place against the other 25 teams.
SPEECH AND DEBATE:
- Bredshad Robinson placed 4th in LD debate and third in persuasive speaking.
- Steven Brown placed ninth in LD debate and second in informative speaking.
- Cason Smith placed fifth in prose and seventh in informative speaking.
- Claire Garcia placed fifth In LD debate
- Ava Aldridge placed 6th in LD debate
- Joslyn Guazozon placed 8th in informative speaking.
The Speech and Debate team placed second overall against the other schools.
POETRY:
- Yesenia Dowdell placed 4th.
- Camila Blancas placed 5th.
- Arely Perez placed 6th.
- Cameron Butler placed 7th.
The UIL academics will be competing again at the Caney creek invitational on March 1st and 2nd.
ROBOTICS:
The Robotics team competed in a tournament on Saturday Feb. 10th
The team placed 2nd place in the motive award and the Finalist Alliance-1st Team Selected Award.
CULINARY:
Culinary had a competition in Beaumont on Friday Feb. 9, 2024. They are still waiting for their results.
SKILL USA:
Skills USA competed in commercial photography for district competition on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024.
