Leon immediately turned to his team to celebrate not his 100th goal but to have scored the second point in their game leaving them 2-1 against College Park. “Whenever I scored the 100th goal, I didnt even think about it. SPORTS RECAP 11/27-12/8: School golf record broken

SPOT THE TARGET. Sophomore Jackson Weddle positions himself to throw the bowling ball down the alley on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023. Weddle practices during the bowling matches due to the fact that he can’t make it to Tuesday practices. “Even though I can’t make it to practice, I still like bowling because I grew up bowling with my parents.” Weddle said.

GOLF

Golf has recently participated in a tournament on Monday, Nov. 28, 2023 in which, Jade Pierce placed first and broke the school record. The previous school record was 85 and Pierce beat the record by 4 shots scoring a 81.

SWIM

The swim team has been growing rapidly with many students transferring into swim. On Friday, Nov. 17, 2023 two swim team members, sophomore Abigail De La Garza and senior Marko Elvira qualified and participated in TISCA, which is a regional and state wide competition that requires you to meet certain time qualifications in order to participate.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Boys had 5 matches from 11/27 to 12/8. They won one of the five on Tuesday, Nov, 28. 2023 against Conroe with a score of 50-48. On Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023 they lost two games, one against Clear Creek with a score of 39-47 and the other against Langham Creek with a score of 35-72. They lost both of their most recent games against Heights and Grand Oaks. Heights with a score of 31-60 on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023 and Grand Oaks with a score of 48-63 on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023. Their next match is Friday, Dec, 8. 2023 against Tivy.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Girls had 6 matches from 11/27 to 12/8. They won one of the six. They lost against Conroe on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023 with a score of 34-46.  On Friday, Dec. 1, 2023 they won one of two games, they won against New Caney with a score of 49-36 and lost the other against Barbers Hill with a score of 27-65. The day after, Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, they lost two games, one against

Hamshire-Fannett with a score of 37-56 and the other against Alief Hastings with a score of 37-62. They lost their most recent game against Grand Oaks on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023 with a score of 40-68. Their next match is on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023 against Cleveland.

BOWLING

Bowling had two matches, they lost one on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023 against Willis. They won the other one on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023 against Conroe. Their next on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2023 against Lake Creek.

ACROBATIC. Junior Addison Blanks on her last high jump at the Lake Creek track and field meet on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024. Blanks cleared 5’2 feet high jump, setting a new personal record while claiming the gold medal of high jump.
Track sets personal records, places at Lake Creek Relays

Rosales was on the wing being contested by the New Caney defender until crossing the ball in.“It was okay, it wasnt anything great or bad,” Rosales said. “We did good but know we could have done better, still pleased with the win.”

Sophomore Analily Organes successfully completes the long jump at the Lake Houston relay on Feb. 8, 2024.The varsity track team started their season breaking school records.“I think the track meet went really well we broke our school SMR records,”Oragnes said.“I think this season is going to be great.”

Manuel was driving into the paint to convert after having just been subbed into the game a few minutes before. “First half I was frustrated with being out for a while,” Manuel said. “We needed to stop turning over so much and choose better passes.”

Rhyan Mar is a Reporter for Student Media at Caney Creek High School. He reports events that are involved with todays occurrences at the school and around the world. He's in his first year involved in the organization, and was slightly involved with Key Club in 2022 only as a member, he is also involved with his church. Rhyan is mostly involved with only his classes and getting his work done. He hasn't received any major awards but strives to. A little more about Rhyan is, he's lived in the area all his life, worked as a lifeguard at Big Rivers, and he's the only person in his family with colored eyes. Rhyan also really enjoys shopping, games, and music.

Melissa Bonilla, Social Media Editor
Melissa Bonilla is the Social Media Editor at Caney Creek High School. She is in charge of every social media post for the Student Media and is also one of the photographers for the yearbook. She is in her second year as a photographer and she is also in her sixth year in choir as an alto. In choir she has gotten 1's and 2's in the choir UIL for the pass three years. She has also gotten A-B Honor Rolls for each year she's been in high school.
