CLUB ROUNDUP: Debate qualifies for nationals, Color Guard places 1st in competition

These are the following clubs that had a contest or event in the past week. 

DEBATE

Debate had four students qualify for the national tournament this weekend on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024.

These are the students that competed and qualified.

  • Breshad Robinson qualified in congressional debate, U.S. extemporaneous speaking and Big Questions debate. 
  • Steven Brown qualified in Lincoln-Douglas debate. 
  • Camila Blancas qualified in program of oral interpretation and was second alternate in dramatic interpretation.
  • Nancy Diaz is the first alternate informative speaking 

They will compete again in the national tournament in Des Moines, Iowa, in the summer. 

COLOR GUARD

The color guard team had their second competition of the season on Saturday Feb. 17 in Willis High school. 

The Varsity and JV teams both placed 1st place in their divisions. 

Varsity placed first with a score of 72.300 and JV placed first with 59.870. 

BAND

 The mighty panther band competed in the UIL SOLO and Ensemble competition on Saturday, Feb.17, 2024 at Oak Ridge High school. 

They had 44 students placed for superior performance. 

CHOIR

The choir club had a bake sale on Monday Feb.19, 2024 at time to spare to raise money for the Tri-M music honor society.
