How would other people describe you?
People describe me as someone who is very disciplined in what I do and as well very dedicated when it comes to my goals that I set up.
How and why did you start playing?
Because I got motivated by watching soccer from a young age of my national team Mexico on the tv with my family and getting that sensation of screaming a goal with my whole family and it spiked my adrenaline to play soccer.
Describe how you prepare before a game.
I prepared myself a whole week before by getting enough sleep and as well as meditating and eating well. Hours before my match I’m more relaxed because I have visualized everything so I know how I’m going to perform during a match. As well I listen to music to motivate myself even more.
What do you think your reputation is as an athlete?
I think my reputation as an athlete is to be very conservative, like for example not going to parties, not hanging out with the wrong crowd.
What personal superstitions or traditions do you have before, during or after a game?
I usually read motivational notes that I write myself everyday to remind myself why I’m doing this and to give that reason why I should keep going with my goal.
Tell us about your favorite memory as an athlete either on or off the field.
My favorite memory is winning games with my club and winning very important tournaments. As well the people I met and the friends I made in the process of my journey.
Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.
I’m very proud of myself for being injured but yet still I worked hard to get back on my feet and never gave up on soccer and moved on with my journey.
Who is someone you are thankful for and why?
I’m very thankful for my family, that they have given everything so I can keep on going forward. They have been there for me since day one and supported me through it. And have made me the person that I am today.
What advice would you give to people that may want to play your sport?
I think one advice I would give to someone that was to be a soccer player is to stay strong with your dreams, keep up with your dreams, because everyone has a different process of a soccer player, not every player is going to end up on the same spot, if someone tells you that you don’t belong on that team doesn’t mean that you actually don’t belong on that team. And as well, always staying strong and being confident.
When people get to know you, really get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn?
One thing that I learned of myself that someone else has told me is the obsession I get when I get a goal in my head and go all at it to complete my goal and I don’t leave it half way I complete it no matter how much time I take.
What’s on your sports bucket list?
To make it to state with the school soccer team even make it to nationals. Play at the highest level of school in college Division 1 or Division 2 colleges. And play for my national team and make it to the professional level.
