How would other people describe you? 

People would view me as bubbly and cheerful. I would say I get very enthusiastic about things and I’m kind most of the time.

Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching.

I wanted to be a software engineer, which I am kind of still pursuing.

Tell us about how you got into teaching. 

I traveled to Taiwan and I realized I really like watching languages interact with each other.

What do you do outside of school for fun? Why? 

I have cats, I crochet and do a lot of cooking experimenting with international food.

When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you? 

I feel like I don’t hide too much and I think the most interesting thing about me was I’m fluent in Chinese. People are surprised that I can speak Chinese.

Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.

One of the most recent things was the conclusion of my recent year teaching, 90 percent of my kids passed the STAAR test, only 10 kids didn’t pass.

Who is someone you are thankful for and why?

My mom, she is my voice of reason. She pushes me even when I don‘t want to and she’s the one that pushed me to get this job. Our last principal (Dr. Terry Benson), was my principal in high school. I was subbing to try out teaching, and she pulled me in her office and asked if I could teach biology.

What advice would you give to someone pursuing a career similar to yours?

Take time,this job can be very stressful but take time to find the little joys in it. Notice the beauty in the students’ growth on a day to day basis. I think the biggest thing I learned was yes I like getting paid, but a lot of the reason I show up to work is to see the students learn and grow.

What do you hope to be remembered for? 

Being a good teacher and being the teacher and the reason a kid wants to come to school

What’s on your bucket list? 

I want to get my PHD and become Dr.Spruell one day. (College Professor)
