How would other people describe your high-school self?

I wasn’t a rebel, I never met a rule I would break.

Was there a career you wanted to pursue OR pursued before teaching?

Teaching is my second career, I was a salesperson.

Tell us about how you got into teaching.

I started substituting when my kids were young, I decided I really liked it, and I had somebody at high school ask me if I would go back to school and get my teaching certification.

What do you do outside of school for fun? Why?

I play Pokémon Go and I also read a lot. I play Pokémon Go because it’s fun and I don’t have to think about it. I like to read because it just takes you to different places, you can just be anywhere in the world when you’re reading a book.

When people get to know you, what are they most surprised to learn about you?

That I’m actually very nice, I’m not as scary as I look.

Tell us the story about what you are most proud of yourself for.

Graduating from college with my bachelor’s degree because it was really hard and I had to work full time, it took me a long time to get it.

Who is someone you are thankful for and why?

I’m thankful for my children because they just are good kids and they are appreciative of the things they have.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Probably not to worry about little stuff all the time like everything will do the right thing and everything else will fall in place.

What do you hope to be remembered for?

Helping kids reach their goals.

What’s on your bucket list? (If needed) What aspirations do you have for the future?

I want to go to Greece because it’s really pretty, there’s so much to see, and when I used to teach 9th grade English and you do a lot of stuff with legends and myths and all of that.
