Margarita Rangel is Website editor-in-Chief and a photographer on Student Media. She has been on staff for three years now, apart from Student Media she’s also a member of some honor societies. Secretary in NAHS, member of NHS, NTHS, StuCo, and Key Club. Rangel is also the Caney Creek intern for Conroe ISD sports photography.  Favorite colors that bring her joy are Cobalt blue and Seafoam green. Her favorite band is Three Days Grace and is in love with DPR Ian and LIVE. She loves Criminals Minds, Greys Anatomy and streaming thriller Documentaries, her favorite horror movies is Insidious the Last Key.  SHE ALSO VERY MUCH ENJOYS SPENDING HER TIME WITH LIZ AND NAT. (she also did everyone profiles so when you get the chance tell her good job even if she cant take the compliment..)

CHIMES. Senior Jordan Jahn plays the wind chimes during the Jazz band and Percussion concert on Wednesday Feb. 21, 2024. In preparation for the concert, Jahn would practice before school started, along with her percussion friends. “During the concert, I think we were all relaxed and just having fun,” Jahn said. “I mean, there was no real pressure, so we were all relaxed. I feel like we played really well. I've learned that having an amazing group of people behind you helps you feel more confident in what you're about to perform.”

Over the summer Mazariegos attended a Naval Academy seminar that gave him the chance to grow his passion for the navy. EVERY SECOND COUNTS. Sophomore Tanner Johnson warms up on the baseball field with his teammates seconds before the next inning starts during a tournament at Humble on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023. Being the first tournament of their season the players tried to prepare for each inning of the game by warming up. By the end of the tournament they tied against Benjamin Davis High School 1-1 and Humble High School 2-2.

THE REAL GOAL. Junior Gregory Sommer runs to first base after bunting the ball during the tournament in Humble on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023. However the opposing team's first baseman caught the ball causing Sommer to be taken out. Although he didn’t get his team a point in the play they still cheered him in till the end.

Both players looked to the umpire to see what the play was being deemed as. Gilliam was seconds late to out the rival , therefore, the play was called safe.

IT’S DIFFERENT BUT NICE. Sophmore Lidia Linde Figuero poses with her shirt her father gave her outside Caney Creek for a picture on Oct. 19, 2022. Figueros mom had stitched patches on the shirt of a Puerto Rico and Spanish flag due to the fact that she’s both ethnics. Figuero comes from Spain, the most cherished thing from her town is the people. “The difference between here and Spain is just the interaction, over there everyone knew each other and hung out all the time,” Figuero said. “I really miss the interaction, I was really involved with the town.”

THE ANTICIPATION. Freshman Holly Wood waits to see if the ball makes it in the hole during the tournament at Grand Oak on Nov. 7th, 2022 . This was the first tournament for the girls in the season. Wood already was nervous from it being her first high school golf experience, along with that she doesn’t attend the golf class given at school, yet neither of those reasons stopped her from continuing. “My first thoughts were how lucky I was to play, how excited I was to be representing Caney Creek golf, and how I couldn't wait for the rest of the season to start,” Wood said.

THE START. Freshman Holly Wood and Freshman Jadynn Pierce talk while walking to the warm up section of the Grand Oaks golf course on Nov.7, 2022. Wood and Pierce are the only girls currently representing Caney Creek girls golf since 2020. Ever since Covid there hadn’t been girls in golf, and now after two years there’s girls Golf . “I feel like me and Jad can be the start of growing something new,” Wood said. “We can spread the word, and build into something bigger.”

HIT AND MISS. After missing her putt Freshman Jadynn Pierce covers her mouth in shock at a Grand Oak tournament Nov. 7th, 2022 Pierce was frustrated. She kept missing the hole and would've missed par and maxed out, but after re-putting at her sixth stroke on a par five, she settled herself. A par is the amount of strokes a golfer needs to have to get a good score on a hole, golfers try not to max out to keep their scores lower. “I was ok with getting a 6, when I lose I practice what I did wrong,” Pierce said. “I practice to get better and get better scores.”

PERFECT PATH. Freshman Holly Wood aims her putt in the path where she wants the ball to go on Nov. 7th, 2022. Wood chipped the ball 75 yards out into the course. She has learned these techniques since she was young from her grandma. Woods had been watching for years how to golf, and ever since she got the chance to play she uses those skills. “My family initiated the start of this, they’ve been doing this for so long,” Wood said. “Something everyone should know about golf is, it's not just for old people, don’t judge till you try it.”

After everyone in the group had hit the ball in the water they decided to drop the ball on the other side. Pierce continued to compete and made the hole in 5 strokes, putting her more advanced than the others. “When there’s water I tell myself to hit it up and over,” Pierce said. “I have to make par”.
